FAQ – Frequently Asked Ques­tions

The Philas Foun­da­tion supports projects and insti­tu­tions in the areas of health, educa­tion and social causes. We focus on the follo­wing specific areas:

• Health: gender-sensi­tive medi­cine
• Educa­tion: profes­sional career of people with disa­bi­li­ties
• Social causes: shel­ters

You can submit an appli­ca­tion using the online form (www.philas-foundation.ch/application). Hand­written and e‑mail appli­ca­tions will not be examined. Please make sure that your appli­ca­tion meets our funding criteria.

The Philas Foun­da­tion Board and Execu­tive Board deli­be­rate on the appli­ca­tions received and decide whether to accept or reject them based on the submitted docu­ments, the funding criteria and the Foundation’s stra­tegy.

It is important to us that the available resources are used in the best possible and most targeted way. Projects that require a signi­fi­cant level of funding are analysed toge­ther in order to iden­tify which ones fully meet the funding criteria and the Foundation’s stra­tegy.

Projects which do not meet our funding criteria will not receive funding from the Philas Foun­da­tion. You can find details of what we do and don’t support on the three funding area pages: health, educa­tion and social causes.

The time it takes to receive an answer regar­ding your appli­ca­tion depends, among other things, on the amount of funding requested. The foun­da­tion regu­larly deli­be­rates on projects with a funding amount of less than CHF 10,000 and decides whether to accept or reject them in a timely manner. For projects with a funding amount excee­ding CHF 10,000, please observe the submis­sion dead­lines. At the end of the respec­tive submis­sion period, the Foun­da­tion Board will discuss the appli­ca­tions and you will receive an e‑mail or phone call from us.

No, there is no auto­matic right to receive support, even if your appli­ca­tion meets our funding criteria.

The amount of funding allo­cated depends on a project’s finan­cial needs and poten­tial impact.

We only operate in Switz­er­land. We curr­ently only support educa­tional projects in the cantons of Nidwalden, Obwalden and Lucerne.
